| Contact Us | Welcome to the Learning Disability Partnership Board for the Wigan Borough. This website is maintained by Wigan Council. Site Updated July 12, 2011 - Added details of a new release by Heavy Load, and a new document link on the Publications page. There is also information on I'm Not Laughing - a new campaign by Bolton Council - on the Noticeboard page. Dying Matters Finally, we would like to share a film with you, produced by CHANGE - it's called "We Are Living Well, But Dying Matters", produced for the Dying Matters coalition, set up by The National Council for Palliative Care. The film talks about ideas on how to discuss death, dying and bereavement with people with learning disabilities. We know all too well of people with learning disabilities who aren't told about the concepts of death, dying and bereavement and are left to cope with these issues without being fully informed about what is going on. We hope this film will give you some ideas of how to discuss these issues openly, honestly and sensitively with people with learning disabilities. To watch the film, click on the Dying Matters logo. Next Partnership Board meeting will be held on Wednesday 27th July at St. Peter's Pavilion in Hindley.
