Learning disability day services are provided by the council's Department of Adult Services. The service also caters for the needs of people with complex needs. There are three main centres in the borough (Amberswood, Mayfield and Broadmead) and eighteen smaller community (satellite) bases. |

La Vida Loca - Please click on the poster for more information. Come to our monthly Social Evenings alternating between Stubshaw Cross Labour Club, Ashton-in-Makerfield and All Saints Social Club, Golborne from 7.30 - 10pm. Check the poster for details and directions. It’s your chance to meet up with other people with learning disabilities, there will be music and dancing and you never know maybe some romancing. Takes place every Friday at Newton-le-Willows Girls & Boys Club, Haydock Street (near the market), and is open to anyone with a learning disability. Activities include arts, discussion, games, drama and more. A few trips are planned as well. Every Friday 10am - 3pm. £2.00 per session. For more details, ring 01744 613853. For the past six years, CRIS have delivered creative projects in Salford, Manchester and Wigan, specialising in film, music or theatre. Their aim is to involve young people aged between 16-19 years old who have learning disabilities, young offenders and young people not in employment, education or training. As an Open College Network centre, CRIS delivers accredited projects that develop both technical skills and other skills that could be used elsewhere such as team-working, problem solving, improved communication and confidence.
